Then I found a new section of floor from an old shell. So I cut the old one out. Used the new bit as a template. Then did some more welding to attach the new bit. Not sure if my welding is getting any better yet, but the new section is secure and solid. I just need to get under the car and make sure the new bit is attached to the chassis rail.

As you can see from the pictures below there is still more work to be done on the inner sill and floor. And the bottom of the a-pillar also needs to be looked at. Its looking like I might need to source some new front guards too. I knew the leading edges around the headlights were full of bog, but the bottoms behind the front wheel are also a bit far gone. I'll need to get them off the car to check for sure.

Got my wheels and tyres sorted too, some nice RS Volate jobbies. The tyres aren't really what I wanted, but the price was right so I had to go with them. They're 185/70x13's, idealy I would have liked some 185/60x13's. Finding the right wheel nuts prooved a challenge though. Eventually I got my washers from Bob Jane (Speedy) and used the nuts from the packet I bought from Supercheap.

I have sourced a mk2 donor car. Its a 2L one, but has no engine and box. But it does have the bigger 2L front struts and M16 brakes. Its got a slightly bigger 20mm swaybar too. So all this gear will be swapped over into the front of the mk1. I've got a brand new Mk2 steering rack that the ACT Small Ford Club had on offer for $50. So that will go in too.

I'm going to nab the rear axle from the mk2 as well. Its got the bigger 9" drums on it, so will be better than the original Mk1 items. And if I need brake lines and anything I can always steal them off the Mk2 as well.

I wanted to put the under floor fuel tank in too. Aparently there is another one in the boot, but I don't have a key to get in, so will have to get in via the back seat at some stage. I'm planning to fabricate a new rear panel section for the Mk1 that looks like the mk2 fuel filler area. The Mk2 shell is too good to go cutting up. And if the boot lock fits the Mk1 bootlid, I'll steal that too.
